Dallas Fort Worth International Airport required an ALSF shelter and light lane be modified as part of their end around project. DACO was hired to relocate the ALSF shelter and light lane stations as well has re-cable all of the existing ILS infrastrucres serving both parallel runways with new fiber and copper control wire. A new ILS support structure was attached to the existing ALSF shelter by expanding east. This new structure housed the fiber and communication electronics that served the ILS. DACO installed all the electronic and electrical infrastrure in the new shelter to replace the old comm structure.

The existing ILS comm structure housed fiber and copper comm that served the entire east half of DFW. If this shelter was removed, then DFW would lose all of its ILS systems on the east side of the airport. DACO installed new fiber from the new shelter back to the ATCT and ran new fiber, heliax, 6 pair, 12 pair, 25 pair, 50 pair and 100 pair PE-39 copper shield cable to each affected facility on RW 13L-31R. A carful cutover plan was completed by DACO which allowed for both comm structures to be utilized and eliminated down time for the ILS systems to a day. Once the systems were running on the new fiber and comm, the old comm structure was demolished.

DACO tested and terminated all comm wire.

STA 23 and 24 of the ALSF were relocated to accommodate the new end around taxiway. New foundations, LIR structures were installed and tied into STA 22.
